I Finally Did the Thing I Didn't Want to Do

Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed

Hi Friends,

How Is It June Already?

Summer has a way of sneaking up on us.

One minute we're setting goals in January, and the next we're planning beach days, welcoming kids home from university, preparing for visitors, or sneaking away to the cottage whenever we can.

As much as I don't want to talk about fall just yet, we are officially halfway through 2026.

Which makes this a great time to pause and ask:

How's it going?

Not just in your business, but in your life.

An exercise I completed back in 2024 continues to shape many of the decisions I'm making today. In this particular group, we evaluated eight pillars of life and business and identified small "micro-upgrades" that would move us closer to where we wanted to be.

That exercise ultimately led me to where I am today; working in my own business full-time, prioritizing my health, and creating a business that better supports my life.

The lesson?

Big changes rarely happen all at once.

They happen because of small, intentional decisions repeated consistently over time.

Tips, Tools & Takeaways for Designers

3 Tips for Your Life & Business This Week

Assess Before You Adjust

Take a moment to evaluate the areas of your life and business that matter most.

Where are you thriving?

Where are you struggling?

What feels aligned?

What feels heavy?

Awareness is often the first step toward meaningful change.

Focus on Micro-Upgrades

You don't need a complete business overhaul.

You need the next right step.

One workflow improvement.

One boundary.

One pricing adjustment.

One hour blocked on your calendar to work on the business instead of in it.

Small improvements compound over time.

Do the Hard Thing First

This past Monday marked one month of going to the gym for me.

I was anxious and intimidated walking through those doors the first day.

But growth often lives on the other side of discomfort.

The same is true in business.

That conversation you’ve been avoiding.

That process you’ve been meaning to create.

That decision you’ve been putting off.

Start there.

2 Resources to Check Out

📌 If you're feeling like the year is moving faster than you are, this simple worksheet is for you.

The Thrive Wheel is a life and business check-in designed to help you assess eight key areas of your life, identify where you're thriving, and uncover opportunities for growth. Once you've completed the assessment, you'll create small, intentional "micro-upgrades" that can help move you closer to the life and business you want over the next 90 days.

Sometimes meaningful change doesn't require a complete overhaul; just one small step in the right direction.

📌 Summer Business Intensive for Designers

If there's a challenge you've been meaning to tackle all year, let's work through it together.

I've opened 8 spots between June and August for my Summer Business Intensive.

Together we'll spend three focused hours working on one area of your business and create a clear plan forward before fall arrives. Think of it as your CEO date but with me!

1 Question for You

🤔 What's one small upgrade you could make this summer that your future self would thank you for six months from now? Hit reply and let me know. I’d love to offer support! Or send me a question and I'll answer it in next week's newsletter!

Final Reminder: Money Matters Webinar

Before I sign off, I wanted to send one final reminder about this week's free webinar.

Money Matters: Building Financial Confidence in Your Business

Join myself and financial coach April Stroink as we have an honest conversation about money, profitability, and building a business that supports your goals and your life.

We'll be discussing:

• Understanding your numbers

• Creating financial confidence as a business owner

• Profitability versus revenue

• Building long-term financial sustainability

• Common money mistakes entrepreneurs make

If you've ever found yourself avoiding your financial reports, wondering where the money went, or wishing you felt more confident about the financial side of your business, this conversation is for you.

📅 Thursday, June 11

🕐 1:00 PM EST

This will be my final free webinar until September as I take some intentional time this summer to focus on clients, family, beach walks, and a slightly slower pace of life.

If you've been meaning to join one of these conversations, consider this your invitation.

I'd love to see you there.

Because building a successful business isn't just about serving clients well; it's about creating a business that supports the life you want to live.

See you Thursday!

Here’s to more ease, balance, and joy in your business and life! 💛

Warmly,
Marsha

A weekly blueprint for interior designers who want to build a business as thoughtfully designed as the homes they create. a note from my desk.... As interior designers, we spend countless hours thinking about how our clients will experience their space. We consider flow, function, beauty, and purpose. We ask how a family will live in the home, how they'll move through it, and how each room can better support their everyday life. Yet when it comes to our own businesses, many of us simply......
