Creating Space for Work and Life

Design Clarity Weekly

Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed

Hey Lovely!

Balancing career, family, and life is something I’ve been asked about multiple times this past week.

And whenever I hear the same question more than once, I know it’s not just one person; it’s something many are quietly carrying.

Coming off the 3-day time tracking challenge, I hope many of you gained some awareness around where your time is actually going each day because awareness is always the first step toward change.

So let’s talk about it.

The truth? Balance doesn’t mean everything gets equal time. It means being intentional with your time and honest about your capacity.

There will be days you feel like you’re juggling too many balls. That’s your cue to pause, recalibrate, and come back to what actually works for you.

Now, let’s dive in! 🚀

Tips, Tools & Takeaways for Designers

3 Ways to Streamline Your Business This Week

Define your availability and stand by it. Set clear office hours and let those guide your workweek. Your clients don’t need 24/7 access to you; they need consistency and clarity.

Stop over-explaining your boundaries You don’t need to apologize for having a life outside your business. Respect is built when expectations are clear and upheld. Just say "I'm not available" or "I already have another commitment at that time."

Protect your time like it matters because it does
Emails and texts after hours? They can wait. When you respond consistently within your working hours, you train others to do the same.

2 Resources to Check Out

📌 Your Model Calendar
This is your foundation. A well-designed week creates space for both work and life before either starts to compete. (If you haven’t created one yet, this is your sign.)

📌 A Scheduling Tool (like Calendly or Google Workspace)
I don’t book meetings over text or email. Ever. When someone wants to connect, they receive my scheduling link. It’s connected to my calendar, so only the times I’ve intentionally made available show up. Simple. Streamlined. No back and forth.

1 Question for You

🤔 Where in your week are you saying “yes” out of habit when it’s actually costing you your time, energy, or peace? Hit reply and let me know. I’d love to offer support! Or send me a question and I'll answer it in next week's newsletter!

Want More Support?

This is the work we do inside the program; helping you create a business that supports your life, not competes with it.

Design Clarity Weekly Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed Hey Lovely! There’s a lot of conversation in our industry around design, aesthetics, and client experience. But I think one of the most overlooked conversations is leadership. Not just leadership when things are going well. But leadership in the everyday moments. Leadership in how you speak to your team. Leadership in whether you give credit. Leadership in whether you train someone properly instead of expecting...

This issue feels especially personal because it’s filled with so many things I deeply love: the sea, beautiful homes, thoughtful fashion, slow living, and the quiet beauty of life here in Nova Scotia. Inside these pages, you’ll find coastal-inspired interiors, soft layered fashion, reflections on creating a life that feels calm and intentional, and...
