Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed

Hey Lovely!

A beautiful design on paper means very little without the right people bringing it to life.

If you’ve ever had a contractor ghost you mid-project…
Or an installer rush a job that deserved more care…
You know exactly what I mean.

The truth? Great trades are one of the most valuable assets in your business and the designers who build strong trade relationships create smoother projects, happier clients, and far less stress.

Let’s talk about how to find them… and keep them.

Now, let’s dive in! 🚀

Tips, Tools & Takeaways for Designers

3 Tips to Attract Trades to your Projects

Vet for communication not just craftsmanship
Yes, quality work matters. But what really keeps projects on track is responsiveness, reliability, and professionalism.

When trying a new trade, notice:

  • Do they reply in a reasonable timeframe?
  • Do they show up when they say they will?
  • Do they flag issues early?

Skill can be taught or improved. Communication habits are much harder to change.

Start small before you go all in
Before handing over a full-scale project, test new trades with a smaller scope.

Think:

  • One install
  • One room
  • One delivery

This gives you real-world insight into how they work without risking your entire timeline or client experience.

Be the designer trades want to work with
The best trades have options. They choose designers who are organized, respectful, and clear.

Easy ways to become a preferred partner:

  • Provide detailed drawings and specs
  • Confirm schedules in writing
  • Pay invoices promptly
  • Show appreciation for great work

Strong relationships are built both ways.

Design Clarity Weekly Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed Ladies, it's time to be radical. What does radical mean to you? I’ll admit; it’s not a word I hear often. The first thing that came to mind was those cheesy 1980s movies where everything was “radical.” But recently the word has come up a few times in conversations, podcasts, and business discussions. And when something shows up repeatedly, I’ve learned to pause and pay attention. So I asked myself: What does it...
