A Quiet Shift I’m Truly Here For

February 2026

A Note from Marsha

Welcome to the Thoughtful Home

Late last year, I began to notice something—and as we move into 2026, it’s only becoming more evident.

There’s a quiet return to decorating.

Not gut jobs.
Not starting from scratch.
Not chasing the next trend or influencer look.

Instead, people are slowing down. Looking around their homes with fresh eyes. Asking, “What do I already have—and how can I build on it?”

And honestly? I’m here for it.

Our homes are not Pinterest boards.
They are lived-in spaces—shaped by seasons, stories, family dinners, and everyday rituals.

Many of us are feeling done with the mass-produced, copycat aesthetic. The kind of home that looks perfect online but feels oddly disconnected in real life. What people want now is something far more meaningful:

Homes that feel layered, collected, and personal.
Homes that reflect real life—not a highlight reel.

The Beauty of Decorating (Instead of Replacing)

Decorating allows us to appreciate what already exists. It invites us to work with our homes rather than against them.

A fresh paint colour that changes the way light moves through a room.
New drapery that softens hard edges.
Thoughtfully chosen lighting, art, rugs, and textiles that add depth over time.

There’s a patience to decorating. A consciousness.
An understanding that home is not built in a day and that’s part of the beauty.

Instead of rushing to fill every corner, we curate slowly. We choose pieces with intention. We allow rooms to evolve as our lives do.

Winter: The Season for Nesting

There’s no better time for this mindset than winter.

Winter naturally turns us inward. We spend more time at home. We crave warmth, comfort, and familiarity. This is the season of nesting; of making small, meaningful changes that support how we want to feel in our spaces.

Layered textiles, warmer lighting, softer palettes.
A reading chair pulled closer to the window.
Pillows, throws, and rugs that invite you to linger a little longer.

Decorating in winter isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters. Creating rooms that hold us gently through the darker months and make everyday moments feel just a bit more special.

A Thoughtful Way Forward

This shift feels like a collective exhale.

Less ripping out.
Less noise.
More care. More patience. More intention.

A reminder that our homes are meant to support us; not impress strangers.

As always, my hope is to help you create a home that feels collected over time, deeply personal, and truly lived in- one thoughtful layer at a time.

Warmly,

From my home to yours,
Marsha

Design Clarity Weekly Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed Hi friends, Since it’s Friday, I'm sharing something new this week called Financial Fridays; a simple way to bring more clarity to the financial side of your design business. And the timing couldn’t be better. We’re closing in on the end of the third quarter, and for many designers it’s also tax season; that time of year when we finally sit down with our numbers and try to make sense of what the year has looked...

Design Clarity Weekly Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed Ladies, it's time to be radical. What does radical mean to you? I’ll admit; it’s not a word I hear often. The first thing that came to mind was those cheesy 1980s movies where everything was “radical.” But recently the word has come up a few times in conversations, podcasts, and business discussions. And when something shows up repeatedly, I’ve learned to pause and pay attention. So I asked myself: What does it...

Design Clarity Weekly Helping Design Professionals Streamline, Simplify & Succeed Hey Lovely! A beautiful design on paper means very little without the right people bringing it to life. If you’ve ever had a contractor ghost you mid-project… Or an installer rush a job that deserved more care… You know exactly what I mean. The truth? Great trades are one of the most valuable assets in your business and the designers who build strong trade relationships create smoother projects, happier clients,...
